Persian Gulf Paper Money

The Indian Persian Gulf notes were redeemable in foreign currency equivalent, which had printed by the Reserver Bank of India in 1950's and 1960's. The RBI Issues separate Series of the Banknotes or Paper money exclusively for circulation in the Gulf countries Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the Trucial States (which is now UAE).

The notes retained the contemporary design but were different in colour and carried the prefix 'Z'. The notes were issued in the denominations of 1, 5, 10 and 100 Rupees and were redeemable only at the Bombay office of issue. As the Gulf States issued their own currency, these notes were withdrawn over a period of time from the early 1960's and ceased to be used around the year 1970.
